ABOUT SHAHEED MONSUR ALI MEDICAL COLLEGE:

The college was established as the Ummah Medical College in 1994–95 MIRPUR DHAKA, It later shifted its premises to this site in 1998 under the current name Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College and Hospital. It was and is named after Shaheed M Monsur Ali, the 3rd Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and as the Finance Minister of the Mujibnagar Government, he was a leader of Bangladesh’s 1971 Liberation War as well. It was renamed in 2002 as the Moulana Bhasani Medical College under the Moulana Bhasani Trust. In October 2007, the college shifted to its own building, which was inaugurated by the ex-chairman of the Moulana Bhasani Trust. In February 2009, Dr. Jamal Uddin Chowdhury was elected as chairman of the Moulana Bhasani Trust, later Mrs.Laila Arjumand was elected as Chairman of Moulana Bhasani Trust, and Dr. Jamal Uddin Chowdhury was elected as Chairman of Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College. The institution was renamed to its current name of Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College on April 3, 2010, in the presence of the Chairman of the Moulana Bhasani Trust Mrs.Laila Arjumand.

Application Form for admission into medical colleges in Bangladesh available in Month of August September:

  • Must have passed qualifying examinations (HSC/ ‘A’ level) or equivalent examination.
  • Class 10 (X) or SSC/ ‘O’ or equivalent examination passed
  • Class 12 [XII (10+2)] or HSC/ ‘A’ or equivalent examination passed no
  • Minimum aggregate GPA in SSC or equivalent and HSC or equivalent: 7.00 (eight)
  • GPA either in SSC or equivalent or in HSC or equivalent: 3.5
  • Minimum GP in biology: 3.5
  • For calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in SSC/ ‘O’ level or equivalent exam, only the top 5 subjects are considered for calculation of GPA. Therefore, GPA in ‘O’ level = (total marks obtained in the top five subjects): 5
  • For calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in HSC/ ‘A’ level or equivalent exam, only 3 subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) are considered for calculation of GPA.
  • Qualifying Grade in each subject individually is “C”. Therefore, GPA in ‘A’ level = (total marks obtained in three subjects) : 3
  • Year of passing 12th Not More than two years gap. (That is if you apply for the 2020 session, you must pass class XII Std – 2018 or after)
